Design and Decision Systems
The chair in Design and Decision Systems focuses on interactive architectural and urban planning design systems, multi-actor decision and design systems, architectural information management, support to communication in group processes, and the theory and methodology of computational design. The chair maintains close relationships with the specialisations in Design and Construction Management, a framework within which it provides the methodical and technological instruments whereby designers in architecture, urbanism and project management can achieve optimal results, with a focus on the effect of group processes. The chair studies socio-technological developments in building and society in general, especially in connection with architectural achievements, and is underpinned not only by design theory, design methodology and related disciplines, but also by computer science, and the cognitive, management and decision-making sciences. The role of Design and Decision Systems has an integrative function not only internally (i.e. within the sub-domain) but also externally (with regard to other sub-domains and disciplines).
