Sustainable Housing Transformation

Chair owner: Professor dr. ir. J.D.M. van Hal
The flexible domain chair Sustainable Housing Transformations addresses management questions in the (re)development and occupation phases of housing and housing stock. The chair takes a comprehensive approach to its two specific areas of focus: 1. Life Cycle Analysis, which is oriented towards the sustainable extension of the feasible lifespan of housing and housing stock, and 2. accommodation of demand, which is oriented towards modalities for adapting houses and housing stock to the housing needs of several groups of households. This chair has final responsibility for harmonising the activities of the Housing chairs related to sustainable transformation. Its own research and teaching activities are oriented primarily towards problems on a lower scale (i.e. area, building and dwelling) concerning the socio-economic and environmental sustainability of the housing stock and the process of transformation of this stock.
