Workshop Urbanism on Track 2012
location: Faculty of Architecture TU Delft
On 13 and 14 March, the Architecture faculty’s Urbanism department is to organise a 2-day workshop/seminar ‘Urbanism on Track’.
The seminar’s challenge will be the processing, visualisation, interpretation, data mining and application of a dataset of spatio-temporal data of households in the city of Rotterdam.
Knowledge exchange GPS-tracking data
The aim of this workshop/seminar is to exchange knowledge on processing, visualisation and interpretation of GPS-tracking data. Central issue of the workshop is the preparation of the data for application in Urban Design: from raw spatio-temporal data to accessible and valuable information. Topics will be:
- Processing of GPS-tracking data;
cleaning, organising, annotating, classifying: from raw data to accessible spa- tio-temporal data - Visualisation and Interpretation of spatio-temporal data;
dynamic or static visualisation of GPS data, visual analytics, interpretation and conclusions - Data mining of spatio-temporal data;
correlation, spatial statistics - Application in Urban Design.
from interpretation to interventions
The Challenge
A dataset consisting of spatio-temporal data of house- holds in the City of Rotterdam will be provided. In April/May 2011 about fifty people living in high-rise buildings in the Centre of Rotterdam were tracked for one week using GPS. Additionally, a questionnaire was taken. Participators of the workshop will receive this data package.
